Background
Château Guilhem is located in the Malepere Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in the centre of the little village of Malviès, not far from the City of Carcassonne.
Château Guilhem has been a family property for six generations. It was taken over by the youngest son in the Guilhem family in 2004, Bertrand Gourdou-Guilhem, then 29 years old. After gaining some experience in the wine business with various companies in France and around the world, he’s now making high quality wines that express their terroir by bringing together modern and traditional winemaking methods. This quality has been rewarded in several competitions: the ‘Concours Général’ in Paris, International Wine Challenge in the UK and ‘Concours Mondial’ in Brussels.
The estate now comes to over 33 hectares where these varieties sit side by side: Merlot, Cabernet franc, Cabernet sauvignon, Malbec, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Tasting Notes
A pale golden colour. The first swirl reveals enlivening floral (jasmine) and fruity (mango and apricot) scents. The wine gives a fresh palate, with a hint of melon and lasting notes of white fruit, apricot and toasted flavours.
